Pineapple plants are both pretty and will give you fruit, what’s not to like? It is very easy to grow your own from the top of a pineapple you buy from the shops, but make sure it hasn’t been in the fridge.
you need:
A pineapple top
A glass of water
A pot of soil
Step 1
cut the top of the pine apple off as close as you can get it, and peel off any excess fruit. Then peel of the lower leaves of the top.
Step 2
place the top in a glass of water with the bottom submerged. I left it for a night and I could already see roots begin to appear.
Step 3
when you’re ready place it in the pot of soil.
I would do it a few days after you see the roots, As this way you are certain that it will grow, and you won’t damage any long roots. Water, and leave to grow!
How to care for them
Pineapples are tropical Plants so make sure to water them regularly. They also like lots of light and heat.
When will I get a pineapple?
You should get a pineapple after 2 years, and then one every year after that.
How to harvest the fruit
When the plant produces flowers, this means it will soon start growing fruit. When you have picked the fruit, cut of the crown, and leave the plant to grow more!
